Paddington Bear by Steiff - 35cm

Steiff

Catalogue number: 691041

Paddington Bear is the famous character featured in more than twenty books written by Michael Bond that were inspired by a teddy bear that he brought his wife on Christmas Eve in 1956. The very first Paddington bear soft toy was designed in the UK by Shirley Clarkson of Gabrielle Designs. She made it as a present for her children, Joanna and Jeremy Clarkson (of Top Gear fame).

This absolutely fantastic example of Paddington Bear is inspired by the silver screen realisation of the iconic character and is limited to only 2,000 pieces exclusive to the UK and the United States. Made from the finest chestnut brown and cream alpaca, he follows on from a phenomenally popular series of predecessors created by Steiff. He wears his classic red wide brimmed hat and detailed felt duffle coat and he carries with him a beautifully crafted suitcase. This fabulous interpretation is a must for fans of both the books and movies and an opportunity to adopt your very own bear from Darkest Peru!

“I’m a very rare sort of bear,” said Paddington “There aren’t many of us left where I come from.”

“And where is that?” asked Mrs Brown.

“Darkest Peru."

Paddington comes with his numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with its original protective cardboard outer sleeve.
