Mouse Queen ornament by Steiff - 11cm

Steiff

Catalogue number: 006951

Russian composer Tchaikovsky wrote the music for a two-part ballet based on the fairytale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King written in 1816 by author E. T. A. Hoffmann, in which young Marie Stahlbaum's favourite Christmas toy; the Nutcracker, comes alive and, after defeating the evil Mouse King in battle, whisks her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls. Before the first performance, Tchaikovsky took some songs from the ballet for a concert performance known as The Nutcracker Suite.

Steiff's Mouse Queen ornament takes inspiration from this enchanting story and follows in the footsteps of the exquisite Mouse King ornament from 2019. Made from the finest winter white alpaca; she has a delicate felt tail and paws with airbrushing details to really bring her to life! She is dressed in a beautiful glittering plum coloured ballgown trimmed with velvet. She wears a miniature golden crown on her head and has a removable wire hanger so that she can adorn your Christmas tree with her regal presence!

Limited to only 1,225 pieces (the digits of Christmas day), she comes with her numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with its original protective cardboard outer sleeve. Like all of the limited editions created in Steiff's 140th Jubilee year in 2020, she has a gold plated 'Button in Ear' featuring the special celebratory elephant motif.
