Molly Hound 1927 replica by Steiff - 10cm

Steiff

Catalogue number: 403439

Steiff created their first range of dogs in the 1920's. Their most successful dog; Molly, was first available in 1925 and became an instant hit; outselling teddy bears that year! Originally made with tipped mohair, Molly was later created in a wide variety of designs including bags, hand warmers, purses, pyjama cases, hand puppets and wheeled toys and in bright vibrant colours such as orange, blue and green. This enchanting replica is, like her predecessor, crafted from the finest cream and vivid green tipped mohair. She is stuffed with wood shavings in the traditional way and she has beautiful brown glass eyes and a delicately embroidered nose and mouth. She wears a deep purple ribbon bow and a jingle bell around her neck and features a replica button in ear and red tag from the period, with her modern tag neatly hidden on her hind leg.

She is limited to just 927 pieces and comes with her numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with its original protective cardboard outer sleeve.
