The elephant has glass eyes and a silver plated button in her ear and hangs from a vivid red velvet ribbon cord. In 1880, Margarete Steiff gifted felt elephants to her friends, intended for use as pin cushions. These elephants became toys for her friends children and soon, she was getting orders for more and the Steiff empire was born! This charming necklace gives a respectful nod to the humble beginning of the company.
